Communication - Embodied Networks
The “Choreography of Life,” a beautiful phrase Emilie Conrad gave us, brings an aesthetic appreciation for the artistry of the human body’s communication networks. Continuum offers a safe container for exploring “the inner sea,” our fluid ancestry, and the most ancient of all communication systems. Blood, cerebrospinal fluid, interstitial fluid, rivers, lakes and oceans – waters of life acting as one vast “organ of perception.” Mirroring the body’s fluid networks, our technological communication systems circle the globe in fast-paced circuits, connecting human thought and technology. How might our communications within and without be transformed if, as Emilie suggested, “We get to know our silence in a way that is friendly”? Together we will journey through somatic explorations involving sound, breath and non-linear movement into a territory where discovering new meanings is possible.
Emilie shares childhood memories of seeing the faces of passengers on EL railway…”We peered at each other through layers of protective glass, two aliens attempting some form of communication.” – Emilie Conrad
