Scars
What is nature saying by forming a scar as part of the healing process? First there’s a numbing of the damaged tissue, then a scab forms to protect the wound. Time has its way, and eventually a scar remains. Like grooves in the sand left by the rising and falling tides, life’s events inevitably leave their mark. Physical, emotional and spiritual hurts, shames and disappointments – they so often live in the present and shape our lives from moment to moment. Coming to trust a scar’s organic timeline for healing, and valuing the difficult experiences as ‘nodes of learning,’ signposts ‘on our way to the stars,’ can change our relationship with scars. How we give attention becomes either freeing or restricting. By learning to limit the voices of the story and stay with the first-order sensations of the soma with interest and acceptance, we become more available to the embodied learning that’s offered. This workshop will be interactive with opportunities for dialogue and dives into the depths of this exploration.
“Don’t be ashamed…eveybody’s got scars…on our way to the stars.”
