“Dreamer of Inner Hardness”
As rising and falling tides carve ridges in the sand, life’s events inevitably leave their mark. Physical, emotional and spiritual hurts, shames and disappointments – the scars of living form – evidence that the organism is learning and re-organizing itself in response to experience. Old wounds may become an inner hardness, as the stories we tell and retell ourselves become more deeply entrenched over time, or we can learn to soften into the hardness, opening in relationship to our ‘scars’ and the embodied learning they hold. In this series we’ll explore resistance as it’s encountered in the body. Is this tension necessary? What is being protected? Might I soften into this inner hardness? Through dialogue, experiential exercises and somatic experiences involving breath, sound and movement we’ll explore the terrain of our inner landscapes. Like dreamers awakening with curiosity and interest, we’ll dive among these tender reminders -- wounds that have healed and are now part of us.
“For the dreamer of inner hardness resistance is a limit that beckons approach.”
- Gaston Bachelard
